Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met Pearl the cat.

Here is some information on Pearl from the Humane Society of Ocean City:

“Pearl is a beautiful, all-black spayed female domestic short haired cat who is approximately 5-7 years old. She is a fuzzy little kitty, with a mysterious story…having shown up in the northern end of Ocean City after super-storm Sandy.

A local “Good Samaritan” took to feeding Pearl and checking with the neighbors for a missing kitty. Having no luck at finding a home missing this kitty, the woman kept feeding her and took to attempting to trap her so she could be cared for and perhaps re-homed. It took a few years and numerous attempts before Pearl was successfully trapped and brought to the HSOC.

Pearl is a sweet and sociable kitty who LOVES to give head bumps!! She can be a bit shy at first, and may need a little time to warm up to you, but she is super friendly and has fountains of love to share with you!

Pearl should be okay with older kids, probably okay with other cats. Dogs perhaps, if they are cat-friendly, but she may need some time to familiarize. She enjoys being petted and snuggling, but not big on being “held” and needs a calm house-hold; she doesn’t like too much activity! If you would like to meet Pearl, please come down to the HSOC!”
