Happy Father's Day 2021 from Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG.

Below you will see a Father's Day gallery of photos of Lite Rock listeners' fathers that were sent to us this week on the Lite Rock Morning Show.

I couldn't help noticing that many of the listeners who sent photos have fathers who are no longer with us, and it got me thinking about my own father, who died about this time two years ago.

The meaning of Father's Day changed for me twice in my life.

The first time was when I became a father to my daughters Eileen and Bridget back in 2006. That was the first time I was included in the Father's Day celebration. As my girls grew, I cherished those crayon-drawn greetings that came home from pre-school on Father's Day.

The second time Father's Day changed was when my dad died in 2019. Dad was 94, had lived a very good life, and had been in poor health for the last few years of his life; so his passing wasn't a surprise.

Still, the loss of your dad at any age takes some time to accept. You eventually get to a point where you learn to cherish the memories - but you always miss him.

I notice a similar feeling from other folks who shared their feeling about their dad with their photos in our gallery.

The point is to let the people you love know how you feel when they are alive and appreciate every moment.

Happy Father's Day to you and your dad. I hope you enjoy looking at the gallery of photos of dads from around South Jersey!
