The U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Atlantic City came to the rescue again. A crew from the Air Station rescued three people Wednesday morning who were stranded overnight on a research vessel in distress.

Air Station Atlantic City launched this morning to the report of a research vessel aground off of Egg Island, NJ. The crew of the the 6571 quickly responded to the individuals who had been stranded overnight and hoisted all three to safety. BZ!

Egg Island is one of the islands near the Brigantine Inlet.

Air Station Atlantic City operates from the William J. Hughes Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center at the Atlantic City International Airport. It maintains two Dolphin helicopters in 30-minute response status.

The Dolphin copters typically carry a crew of four, consisting of two Pilots, one Flight Mechanic and one Rescue Swimmer.  The Rescue Swimmer is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who can be lowered out of the helicopter to assist personnel in distress.
