Every Thursday morning at 7:10 am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City introduces the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

This week we met Airam the dog...

Here's some information on Airam from the Humane Society of Ocean City...

"Airam is one of our sad cases here at the shelter. He was found living on the streets and was most likely never owned by someone as he comes off as feral.

He was taken in by a rescue and then sent to us. He is a little over a year old and about 40 pounds. He is extremely fearful of humans and doesn’t want to be touched by them.

The only time he’s allowed any touching is when he is with another dog. He absolutely loves other dogs and will need another dog in the home to help him.

We feel that over time and with a lot of work he will come around to his special human but we can’t guarantee that. What Airam really needs is a quiet home with another social, friendly dog to help him learn about humans and house life.

He has been on field trips to other homes and has done well with his manners as far as following the other dog’s lead for housebreaking and not chewing on things he shouldn’t.

He doesn’t seem to care about cats and really doesn’t acknowledge them. We would love to see him in a home, as a shelter is no place for any dog, especially one as fearful as Airam.
