When I think of September, I think of...Earth, Wind & Fire! And I can't think of a better way to welcome September than to welcome Earth, Wind & Fire along with Chicago back to Borgata's Event Center for a sold-out show. Put on your dancin' shoes, 'cause it's almost party time!
On this day back in 2002, singer Kelly Clarkson was voted the first "American Idol" on the Fox TV series. And on that stage thirteen years ago today, Kelly sang, 'Some people wait a lifetime for a moment like this'. For Kelly, this was just the beginning of many more memorable moments to come.
Labor Day Weekend is coming, and Borgata's Festival Park is gonna rock once again! This Saturday in the Park, it's the Counting Crows with Citizen Cope. If you've never seen The Counting Crows live and you've never been to Festival Park, here's your chance to do both!
It's been a month since I wrote my blog, "Is It Really August Already??", and now here it is September! September is a bittersweet month for me. It signals the final weeks of summer and (later this month) the beginning of fall. And that's a hard pill for a summer girl to swallow.
I'm sure a lot of girls (including me!) were very upset on this day forty-one years ago. That was the day "The Partridge Family" TV show ended. It was a show about a widowed mom and her five kids who formed a band and made a hit record, then traveled around the country in a colorful school bus. Sounds a little far-fetched? Not really. Here's why...
To say that the Doobie Brothers have been around a long time is an understatement. They formed in 1970 and, except when the band disbanded (sounds a little redundant) for five years back in the '80's, they are still around (and touring!) forty-five years later. And though the lineup has changed over the years, die-hard fans will be happy to know that original guitarists/vocalists Tom Johnston and Patrick Simmons are still with the band today.
"The Late Show with David Letterman" debuted on CBS from the Ed Sullivan Theater twenty-two years ago this Sunday. Prior to that, Dave hosted "Late Night with David Letterman" on NBC from 1982-1993. The final episode of "The Late Show with David Letterman" aired this past May. The first episode on CBS featured Bill Murray. And Dave's very first musical guest?? New Yorker Billy Joel.
"The End of the Tour" is a drama about writer David Foster Wallace. The film tells the story of the five-day interview between Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) and acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel). The interview took place right after the publication of Wallace's epic novel, 'Infinite Jest' in 1996.
Has it really been forty years since Bruce Springsteen's album "Born to Run" was released?? Yep!! That's four decades! And chances are (if you've been around as long as I have), you had that album in your collection. "Born to Run" is a classic and my fave Springsteen album. But it wasn't his first studio album. It was actually his third. And it still sounds as good today as it did forty years ago.
What happens in Las Vegas doesn't necessarily stay in Las Vegas. At least that's the case with Human Nature. "Smokey Robinson Presents Human Nature The Motown Show" has been voted “Best Singers” by the Las Vegas Review Journal and Trip Advisor’s #1 show in Las Vegas. And if you missed Human Nature's show last weekend at Borgata's intimate Music Box, no worries. Human Nature is back this Friday and Saturday for two more fun-filled shows.
