Christopher Little/CBS/Hulton Archive/Getty Images[/caption]"The Late Show with David Letterman" debuted on CBS from the Ed Sullivan Theater twenty-two years ago this Sunday.  Prior to that, Dave hosted "Late Night with David Letterman" on NBC from 1982-1993.  The final episode of "The Late Show with David Letterman" aired this past May.  The first episode on CBS featured Bill Murray.  And Dave's very first musical guest??  New Yorker Billy Joel.

In this first episode of "The Late Show with David Letterman", Bill Murray spray-painted "Dave!" across the front of the host's desk.  Welcome to your new home, Dave!  In the summer of 1993, Billy Joel's new album was "The River of Dreams".  On the show, one of the songs Billy performed was, "No Man's Land".  Not sure why he picked this angry song, but even with the poor quality of the video, one thing is clear...the Piano Man rocked it.

And for more than three decades, David Letterman rocked late night television, with tons of memorable moments and awesome musical guests.  Miss you, Dave.  Thanks for the memories.  :)
