Christmastime is here and last week I spent a day in New York City with my kids.

The ‘storm of the century’ may be behind us now, but reminders of it are everywhere you go.
When I see picture after picture of the devastation of Hurricane Sandy, I get the chills. I feel like I’ve been through this before many, many years ago. And actually I have. I was a kid at the time, and it was Hurricane Agnes that caused the devastation.
I decided to go see the premiere of the new Led Zeppelin concert film ‘Celebration Day’. And what an adventure it was.
October has arrived, and I’m OK with it. I can deal with October for a few reasons. It’s a pretty time of year with the fall foliage and mums and all. And thankfully it’s not parka weather yet. If I do have to wear a parka in October, I may consider moving south.
My "baby" just turned 18 (yikes!). I have two kids, but I’m not your typical mom. My son once told me I don’t do “mom things.”
Make no mistake about it… I am definitely a summer girl. I <3 the beach and the sun, tank tops and flip-flops.
But there is something to be said about the fall. As sad as I am every year to see the summer end, I must admit that I think fall is truly an awesome time of year.
I read something recently that really stuck in my head.
Singer Rob Thomas wrote on his Facebook wall, “When I see someone eat alone at the diner counter, I feel bad for them and envy them at the same time.”
There are few things in life better than a trip to the salon for a pedicure. It used to be an occasional treat for me. Now I’m going more often. Yeah!!
I love movies. I really do. But I don’t sit home and watch movies. I’d probably just end up getting distracted and cleaning the house or something. I love going to the movies. I totally look forward to it. And whenever I go I have to get the popcorn. And it’s got to have plenty of butter on it. After all, it’s movie popcorn!
Hi there! I’m Marlene Aqua, and when I grow up I want to be a writer.
