"The End of the Tour" is a drama about writer David Foster Wallace. The film tells the story of the five-day interview between Rolling Stone reporter David Lipsky (Jesse Eisenberg) and acclaimed novelist David Foster Wallace (Jason Segel). The interview took place right after the publication of Wallace's epic novel, 'Infinite Jest' in 1996.
Has it really been forty years since Bruce Springsteen's album "Born to Run" was released?? Yep!! That's four decades! And chances are (if you've been around as long as I have), you had that album in your collection. "Born to Run" is a classic and my fave Springsteen album. But it wasn't his first studio album. It was actually his third. And it still sounds as good today as it did forty years ago.
What happens in Las Vegas doesn't necessarily stay in Las Vegas. At least that's the case with Human Nature. "Smokey Robinson Presents Human Nature The Motown Show" has been voted “Best Singers” by the Las Vegas Review Journal and Trip Advisor’s #1 show in Las Vegas. And if you missed Human Nature's show last weekend at Borgata's intimate Music Box, no worries. Human Nature is back this Friday and Saturday for two more fun-filled shows.
"Straight Outta Compton" is the name of hip-hop group N.W.A's first studio album, and it's also the name of the new movie about the band. N.W.A. came onto the music scene in 1988 and changed hip-hop forever. But the movie is not simply a story about gangsta rap. It's a story about real life on the streets of Southern Los Angeles and how that life influenced a new genre of music.
August 17th, 1998 was a big day for Carlos Santana. On that date, which was exactly seventeen years ago today, Carlos received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. That very same year, Carlos was inducted as an individual into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He performed "Black Magic Woman" with the writer of the song, Fleetwood Mac's founder Peter Green. Green was inducted the same night. And this upcoming weekend will be a big one for Santana fans in Atlantic City.
Madonna and Belinda Carlisle were born just one day apart in the same year (1958). The two singers took slightly different paths in their musical careers, but they do have a few things in common. Here's my unofficial list of a few of those things...
This weekend, things are headin' a little bit country at Borgata's Festival Park. Saturday in the Park it's Darius Rucker with David Nail and Cassadee Pope. Then on Sunday Willie Nelson will perform with the American string band, Old Crow Medicine Show from Nashville. Get your country on this weekend at Festival Park!
"Mr. Turner" is a biographical film about the career of British artist J.M.W.Turner (1775–1851), who is played by Timothy Spall. Spall does a fine job portraying the eccentric painter. Turner's life was full of emotional turmoil, including the death of his father. Turner is loved by two very different women, and that can certainly create even more turmoil.
If you've been waiting to see Meghan Trainor perform in AC, it looks like that is not going to happen anytime soon. First Meghan was scheduled to come to Borgata's new Festival Park on 7/3. Then the show was postponed due to a vocal chord injury. Later it was rescheduled for 9/13. But now (unfortunately), Meghan Trainor has cancelled her M Train Tour.
In the flick "Inherent Vice", Joaquin Phoenix plays private detective Larry "Doc" Sportello. He lives in a Cali beach town and spends a good deal of his time smoking marijuana. But he's basically a harmless guy with a good heart. His latest case revolves around his former girlfriend, who comes to him for help, then disappears herself.
