Weekend Happenings: Phillip Phillips, Holiday Food Drive, Trail of Two Cities & More
This winter, the Community Food Bank of New Jersey Southern Branch expects requests for food at their Egg Harbor Township collection center to reach unprecedented levels.
Thousands of local casino workers are out of work and the consequences in the local business community could be dire.
Sorry to start a blog about fun things to do this weekend on such a downer, but we need your help making sure there is enough food to feed these South Jersey families this winter.
Here's how you can do your part.
This year’s first collection in Lite Rock’s annual Holiday Food Drive is this Saturday, November 1st at ShopRite in Somers Point. Please join me, Eddie Davis from the Lite Rock Morning Show, Saturday from 11a-1p.
The Holiday Food drive benefits the Community Food Bank of New Jersey Southern Branch in Egg Harbor Township.
Each year the Community Food Bank of New Jersey and their partners feed 900,000 hungry people. With the help of so many caring individuals, corporations, foundations, houses of worship, schools and community groups, they have distributed more than 500 million pounds of food valued at roughly one billion dollars.
For many years during the holiday season, Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG has been involved in helping. Each November we call on the generosity of our listeners to donate the food stuffs needed to keep the pantries at the Food Bank open and the families who rely on this food nourished.
The Community Food Bank of New Jersey Southern Branch is making a special appeal this year for canned soups, meals in a can, peanut butter and jelly, canned tuna and other meats, and cereal.
When you donate this Saturday, you can enter to win tickets to see Fleetwood Mac live at Boardwalk Hall on Saturday, January 24th, 2015.
I hope to see you on Saturday!
