New Jersey has seen a slow growth in population over the past decade even though more people moved out of the Garden State than any other state in 2018.

NJ.com recently put out a list ranking the 15 fastest shrinking towns that people are moving out of in the Garden State, and these South Jersey towns made the list.

The data from the report comes from U.S Census Bureau American Community Survey from 2013-2017 compared to data from the 2008-20012 census survey.

The first shrinking South Jersey town is Atlantic City, which comes in at #11 (and lost over 600 residents last year). Avalon Borough comes in at #6 (663 residents have moved out of the area), and Lower Township comes in at #5 on the list.

Topping the fastest shrinking town list is Camden, New Jersey with over 2,000 residents moving out in 2018.
