The delayed closing of Ocean City's 34th Street Bridge is now scheduled to happen from 10pm Tuesday through 5am Wednesday.

Work crews will be pouring concrete on the eastbound lane on the Ocean City side of the bridge as part of a re-decking project. The closing had been planned for last week, but was delayed because of weather.

The bridge will reopen to a single lane of alternating traffic on Dec. 14, according to a press release.

The bridge is receiving new decking for the first time since it was constructed in 1964.

The Roosevelt Boulevard Bridge, connecting Ocean City and Upper Township, is undergoing a two-year, $6.5 million construction project.

Work to repair the westbound lane on the Ocean City side of the bridge is expected to begin by the end of the year. Workers would then resume the project next year after the summer, beginning work on the Upper Township side of the bridge in October. Cape May County officials hope to finish the project by May of 2018.
