Breakfast cereals have more competition than ever in today's market, with more on-the-go options like yogurt, snack bars and breakfast sandwiches.

General Mills, the biggest seller of cereal in the United States, last week announced the company's sixth straight quarter of lower sales.

But, even with this slowdown of sales, many brands still sell lots of cereal, as you can see in this graphic from the Washington Post of the best-selling cereal brands in America.

The best sellers are an interesting mix of healthy or sugary.

Cheerios was the best selling cereal last year. Wheaties may be the "Breakfast of Champions", but its sales aren't winning any championships, they are down almost 80% over the last 10 years.

Other considerably "healthy" cereals rank high on the list like Muesli, Special K and Kashi.

Then the sugar comes in with Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Lucky Charms and Froot Loops pour into the middle part of the list.
