Real Christmas trees can be used in a variety of ways, including being recycled for mulch and wood chips. Christmas trees are also biodegradable.

According to PickYourOwnChristmasTree.org, in many places the first two weeks of January are set aside for Christmas tree collections.

The ACUA will collect live Christmas trees with regular yard waste collections in the following towns:

  • Absecon
  • Brigantine
  • Buena Borough
  • Buena Vista Township (Select areas)
  • Egg Harbor City
  • Hamilton Township
  • Linwood
  • Northfield
  • Ventnor
  • Weymouth Township (Select areas)

Make sure all Christmas lights, ornaments, decorations and tinsel have been completely removed from the tree.

According to the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authorities, Christmas trees can be dropped of at the landfill through January 31st.

I'll probably wait until after this weekend to take our tree down. It seems like we were just decorating it and getting ready for Christmas. Nothing is more depressing to me, than seeing a Christmas tree by the curb, especially the day after Christmas.
