Well, here's a big surprise. According to a new study from fueleconomy.gov, you can save fuel by using your car's AC on your next summer road trip. Running your AC does increase fuel consumption but, it's more energy efficient than driving with your windows down at highway speeds. The open windows will increase your car's aerodynamic drag which will burn more fuel.

More gas savings tips from the EPA:

Park your car in the shade to keep it cooler.

When you first start driving, leave your windows open to remove hot air from the cabin.

Pre cool you car while it's still plugged in if you drive a plug-in hybrid.

Who's ready for a summer road trip?
