Tuesday was a night to be proud to be from Margate.  Many people from Margate came together Tuesday night to commemorate the anniversary of Superstorm Sandy with a ceremony at the town's most popular attraction, Lucy the Elephant.

Lite Rock 96.9 WFPG sponsored the Light Up New Jersey ceremony, one of twelve held state-wide, as a way of showing our resolve to face the problems caused by the Hurricane and our determination to prove we're stronger than the storm!

A crowd of a close to two hundred, the Margate Fire Department, Mayor Mike Becker and City Commissioner Brenda Taube, shined lights in the sky and then counted down as thousands of watts of light lit Lucy in the night sky.

Props to Lucy Executive Director Rich Helfant for his help organizing the event and thanks to East Cost Roofing, Siding and Windows and AllState for sponsoring Light Up New Jersey.
