Eleven years. That’s how long Devin Bost, now 22, was outfitted with braces on his teeth. We know what you’re thinking. Those must have been some crooked chompers, right? Wrong. Turns out that Bost is now suing Oregon orthodontist Brad Chvatal for $150,000, along with $35,100 in attorney fees, as compensation for surgeries and expenses related to tooth and gum problems he sustained as a result of wearing braces for half his life.
It took eight-and-a-half months for the NASA’s Mars Curiosity rover to reach the Red Planet aka Mars. The rover landed at 1:31AM ET on Monday, Aug. 6. Once the rover hit its target, the digital space was abuzz with the news. Mars is a crucial location in sci fi literature, lore and film, so naturally, much of the world is curious about what the rover discovers. The landing was a hot topic in our world, too, with plenty of informed, newshound pop stars tweeting about the landing.
‘American Idol‘ favorite Phillip Phillips had a bit of a health scare this week. While contestants fainted left and right during the audition rounds and during Group Week in Hollywood, Phillips’ medical malady was not due to stress from the show. He was hospitalized for a pre-existing condition: kidney stones. We’ve never had ‘em ourselves, but by all accounts, they are supposedly one of the most painful things a body can endure.
On tonight’s (March 7) episode of ‘American Idol,’ the Top 13 were asked to perform songs by Whitney Houston and Stevie Wonder. The girls performed Houston’s hits, while the boys tackled Wonder’s work.
After last night’s (March 1) Top 10 and three wild cards were revealed on Season 11 of ‘American Idol,’ host Ryan Seacrest revealed that the female contestants comprising the Top 13 will belt out Whitney Houston songs next week during the performance episode. As for the seven boys? They will be tasked with performing songs by Stevie Wonder.
Tonight (Feb. 29) marked the second live performance episode of ‘American Idol‘ Season 11. All the girls performed this evening, with only half able to go through to next week. It was another mixed bag of talent, with country gals and torch singers sharing the stage. We also tried to keep track of how many times Randy Jackson said “Yo” but it was futile. It’s like every other word.
Taylor Swift sadly cannot make Kevin McGuire’s prom in New Jersey. However, the singer has instead asked the cancer-stricken teen, whose sister started a Facebook campaign to get Swift to accompany him to prom, to be her date to the upcoming 2012 ACM Awards. What a class act Taylor Swift is. No wonder she inspires such fiercely loyal dedication among her fans.
This scenario, about not giving up or giving up in light of horrible circumstances, sounds like something out of one of Taylor Swift‘s songs. The singer got asked to prom by Kevin McGuire, a teen who is fighting cancer for the second time in his life.
The 42-contestant herd on ‘American Idol‘ is being thinned out to 24: 12 girls, 12 guys. The final 24 will perform for the first time at the live shows next week. Can you believe we are already at the live shows, ‘Idol’ watchers?
