MOUNT OLIVE — For what seems like th umpteenth time this month, police had to rescue an animal from a pool.

Police in this Morris County township responded to a Flanders home Thursday morning where a deer had fallen through a pool cover.

The deer was "frantically trying to escape," police said. It took Sgt. Carl Mase to cut the pool cover before officers could pull out the exhausted animal.

Police said the deer, after "a brief rest," ran back into the woods.
