This summer, I'm leading a group of Lite Rock listeners on a cruise of  Alaska.  I'm already excited about this cool trip!  Alaska has been a must-see destination of mine since grade school geography class and my father's old National Geographic magazines. We're close enough now to the trip that it's time to update passports and make travel plans.

Lately,  my wife and I have been weighing the choice of bringing our... five-year-old daughters, Eileen and Bridget,  with us on the trip or leaving them at home.   Three months before the trip, both options seem like they'll be  open to us.   If they don't  go, we've had a very kind offer  by friends we trust to take care of the kids while we're gone.  If we do take them, they can stay if our cabin,  and all we have to pay for is their airfare, which would be manageable.

So, what should we decide?

On one hand, the idea of exposing them to a cruise vacation and the beauty and wonders of Alaska would probably be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

On the other hand, this would be a nice chance for some alone time together for Beth and me.  We've only been away from the girls once since they were born,  and that was for an out-of-town wedding weekend more than three years ago.

It sounds like the cruise ship has plenty to do for kids, but if they come, we know we'll spend the great majority of the time together as a family and that would be great.

It would also be pretty great to have a couples only vacation!

I'm asking for your help and your opinion,  if you've been in the same situation.   Neither of us has ever been on a cruise before, so we're not quite sure about what to expect.  Kids or no kids on the Alaskan cruise?

Please vote in the poll and then leave your thoughts in the comments section below.   Listen to the Lite Rock Morning Show for updates on your voting and to see what we decide to do!

Thanks, Eddie
