Do more than half of all parents really regret what they called their child?  I read a poll recently that found that 54% of parents are not happy with the name they chose for their baby.  I would believe that some percentage of parents might change their minds about the baby's name later on, but the majority of parents?  How sad!  Naming... your baby is one of a parents' first responsibilities for the child and more than half the parents think they messed it up?

The survey also found that 26% of parents said they grew to dislike the child's name because it became too popular.  I have less trouble believing this statistic.  Kid's names are very trendy and parents who follow that year's trend often find their child is one of  many children in their class sharing that name.  That would bug me too!  When half of all the boys in the sixth grade class have the same first name, for example,  the name seems a little less special somehow.

I still can't believe more than half of all parents regret what they called their child!

So, I'm conducting my own poll of Lite Rock listeners about their children's names.  Please vote and tell me if you do regret what you named a child, and then, below in the comments section, tell me more about what you called your kids and why.  Listen for results on the Lite Rock Morning Show
