Atlantic County Sisters Charged in RX Drug Theft, Deception Scheme

Two sisters from Atlantic County have been charged with theft and deception after stealing oxycodone pills from a Monmouth County medical facility in 2023.

One Sister Used the Other's Medical ID to Work at a Medical facility

Authorities say that Deborah Baskerville, 38, of Galloway Township, used her sister's ID and nursing license to work a shift at Complete Care, a Skilled Nursing Facility in Shrewsbury, Monmouth County on Oct. 31, 2023.

Her sister, Shonte Hall, 36, of Egg Harbor City, worked in the facility.

While working that day, Baskerville is accused of stealing 10 oxycodone pills valued at about $200 from a locked medicine cart and replacing them with allergy pills.

Investigators say that Baskerville may have done the same thing at other medical facilities across the state in late 2023, as Hall worked for a nursing company that outsources its services as needed.

The Sisters Turned Themselves in and Face Charges

According to a press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Baskerville turned herself in early February, as did Hall several weeks later.

The sisters had their first appearances in Monmouth County Superior Court last week and were released on their own recognizance.

Baskerville is facing charges of theft of a dangerous drug, impersonation, the unlicensed practice of medicine, and conspiracy.

Shonte Hall is charged with conspiracy to commit theft by deception and conspiracy to commit unlicensed practice of medicine.
