The U.S. Coast Guard at Air Station Atlantic City responded to a stranded sailboat Sunday in Downe Township, hoisting two crew members to safety. Neither was injured.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, "the Coast Guard received a call at 8:25 p.m. Sunday that two people were stranded in the marsh near Fortescue after their boat, the Leo II, suffered mechanical problems.

A helicopter from Air Station Atlantic City responded and pulled the two men to safety. They were taken to the Cape May Airport."

“Thankfully, these mariners had both working communications and signaling devices,” co-pilot Lt. Matthew Kolb said in a statement. “Using our night-vision goggles, we were able to easily see their emergency flare.”
