The Battle at the Beach high school football event has become a staple in Ocean City, kicking off the high school football season the past three seasons.
A couple of local teams are still alive in the NJSIAA basketball tournament, the Ocean City girls, along with Wildwood Catholic, St. Augustine and Atlantic City are all still playing games.
Ocean City (22-8) advances to the Group 3 state semifinals at 5 p.m. on Thursday at Deptford High School, where the Red Raiders will face Central Jersey champion Westampton Tech, a 61-53 winner over Neptune.
