Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Darius” the cat

Here’s a little background info on Charlie from the Humane Society of Ocean City…

Charlie is a 2-year-old terrier/westie mix who was found as a stray. The woman who found him was unable to keep him because her cats didn't get along with him.

Hes a nice independent dog with med-low energy level.  Charlie is neutered and up-to-date with his shots.

Finally! You found me! If you are looking for a fuzzy little friend! Well, I'll have you know that it very well could be me! I'm "Charlie"! I am a two-year old, Westie mix, boy doggie looking for the coolest forever home ever! I was brought to the H.S.O.C. as a stray by my foster family. See, they found me wandering the streets all alone, and tried to take me in. The only problem was that my exuberant demeanor perturbed their cats tremendously. Let's just say that it wasn't a real "Kum by Ya" moment. Very tearfully, my foster mom asked the nice folks here to find me a home instead. Can't say she didn't try! So, I would really dig a great new family that was fun, energetic, and just had no kitties! They say that I am part Westie but, some even think I am a bit of a Bichon surprise! Who really knows! What I do know is that I'm Charlie, and goodness do I have a funny face, and a big heart! Won't you adopt me? Come by soon to see me, as I probably will not be looking for a great home for long!"

If you would like to visit Charlie or need more information about any animal up for adoption at The Humane Society of Ocean City, call 609-399-2018 or stop in any day between 11a-3p.

To adopt from the HSOC you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub). If you rent, written approval from your landlord is required as well as personal identification.

The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats or kittens and $85 for dogs, adults and puppies. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards. Checks are accepted upon management’s approval. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip if requested, free first vet exam, and all necessary vaccinations through the first year. Adoption applications are available at the shelter.
