Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Ana” the cat.

Here’s a little background info on Ana from the Humane Society of Ocean City…

"Ana" is a year-old grey and white spayed female. She was rescued very young as a stray from outside and is still very shy. She is good with other cats and possibly a cat friendly dog. Because of her shyness Ana would do best with no small children as they may not understand why she isn't instantly friendly.

"Hey, where's the party? I'm "Ana" ! Ana-Banana! If you love to laugh at goofy cat antics, I am the gal for you! I am a gray and white coated, baby, girl kitty who is just about five-months old!
I came to the H.S.O.C. along with my two sisters, when we were just ten-weeks old. Elsa is the shy one, Genevieve is the hissy one, and me, I'm the "Beyonce" of the bunch. I love the spotlight, and I even sing a little too! I climb like a monkey with whiskers, and call out to my friends when I see them. Did I mention that I cuddle right back at ya' when being held? Well, I do! I know! Can you stand it?
As far as forever homes, I can be adopted with my more domestic sister, Elsa. However, if somebody wanted to give us great homes separately the staff here could very well consider that option too! I would probably flourish in nearly any home but, let it be known that I have not ever really been in a home, home. I know! All this personality and never had a roof over my pretty, little head before coming to the shelter? It's true!
So, if you think that you could go bananas for this zany, Ana-Banana, stop by soon to meet me for real! Bet I'll make you laugh!"

If you would like to visit Ana or need more information about any animal up for adoption at The Humane Society of Ocean City, call 609-399-2018 or stop in any day between 11a-3p.

To adopt from the HSOC you will need one form of identification, which includes your name, permanent address and proof of ownership (i.e., local tax stub). If you rent, written approval from your landlord is required as well as personal identification.

The adoption fee is $50.00 for cats or kittens and $85 for dogs, adults and puppies.

They accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, Discover and debit cards. Checks are accepted upon management’s approval. All adoptions include spay/neuter surgery, microchip if requested, free first vet exam, and all necessary vaccinations through the first year. Adoption applications are available at the shelter.
