Every Thursday morning at 7:15am on the Lite Rock Morning Show with Eddie Davis, the Humane Society of Ocean City brings in the new Lite Rock Pet of the Week.

If you are thinking about adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from the Humane Society of Ocean City, a no-kill shelter recognized as one of the nation’s top ten animal shelters.

All of the animals are spayed/neutered, vaccinated and micro-chipped before adoption. All animals also receive an Alumni Card which entitles them to a 10% lifetime discount for veterinary services at the Humane Society of Ocean City clinic.

This week we met “Olive" the dog. Olive is a 9 year-old, brindle coated, spayed female Whippet mix.

Here’s a little background info on olive from the Humane Society of Ocean City…”Olive was born on the island of St. Croix around 2007 and spent her first two years there learning the in's and out's of the island.

A couple decided to take Olive home to the states to make her their own, until one day they had a baby and was too much for them to handle. They surrendered her to us.

One day another family came to adopt Olive but couldn't understand or provide to her needs, so they also brought her back to us.

About a year or so later, an older lady came to take her home and they really got along and loved each other.  However, Olive didn't get enough time outside to run and play and she got aggravated and would whine in desperation, so needless to say she was surrendered yet again.

One more year later, a nice man came and visited Olive several times before taking her home. Yet after only a few weeks he brought her back, another one who couldn't provide or understand her needs.

That was almost two years ago.  Life in the Shelter has become routine for Olive, she wakes up at 7:30, eats around 9-10am then gets walked by a volunteer then sits around all day lone, bored and alone.

Olive needs an owner who understands her needs to be outside, running, and chasing things.  She is an independent-minded dog with good training.
