An ill-conceived comedy starring white British actor Joseph Fiennes as Michael Jackson has been deep-sixed after objections from Jackson's daughter Paris and fans — but there's a Lifetime movie about the King of Pop's final days on the way.

The news came at a Television Critics Association (TCA) panel on Friday (January 13), when Lifetime announced Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland. The script is based on a best-selling book written by Michael's former bodyguards titled Remember the Time: Protecting Michael Jackson in His Final Days, according to Vanity Fair.

While the words "Lifetime biopic" are enough to put any protective fan on high alert (unauthorized Britney Spears biopic, anyone?) Searching for Neverland boasts bona fides that Sky Arts' Urban Myths Fiennes project certainly didn't: It will be executive produced by Emmy-nominated producer Suzanne de Passe, who worked with the Jackson 5 during her days at Motown.

What's more, the star has already been cast: Michael Jackson impersonator Navi will reportedly take on the role he's been long practicing for.

"If you’re looking for a Michael Jackson act to complement your event, whether it is a wedding, birthday party, barmitzah, club, dinner show, corporate event, concert, or any other function, within our 3 products available (King Of Pop ft Navi, King of Pop – The Legend Continues & Rock Wit’ You) we have covered every aspect you could be looking for," Navi's official website promises.

So, there's that.
