Update, 10/3: Mimi's shared a clip of her October 5 Empire appearance on Instagram; watch above.

When news broke that Mariah Carey, empress of shady side-eyes and falsely benign "I don't know her" takedowns, was officially set to guest on Season 3 of FOX's Empire, fans flipped over the prospect of MiMi and Taraji P. Henson's Cookie mixing it up. And while the two don't share screen time in a new trailer, we do get a glimpse of some classic Mariah—uh, that is, "Kitty."

"You've always got a trick up your sleeve," Carey's character tells...well, we're not sure who yet (Lyon patriarch Lucious, quite possibly, but maybe Cookie!).

The "We Belong Together" singer will make her debut in the third episode on October 5, according to IMDB, and TVLine reports that she'll play a "mega-superstar" who collaborates with Jussie Smollett's Jamal Lyon. It may not surprise you to learn that drama ensues.

Carey has worked with Empire co-creator Lee Daniels twice previously, in Precious and Lee Daniels' The Butler, and he first let word slip of a possible Season 2 guest role in an August 2015 chat with Variety

"She’s very underestimated as an actor," Daniels said of his earlier experiences directing Mariah. “Directed properly, she’s a tour de force. A lot of the time, she can be intimidating because she’s a strong-willed woman. She needs a strong director who grasps her and they can lean on each other. I think that directors that are brave will see that."

Watch Mariah's Kitty sing alongside Smollett's Jamal in the preview below. Watch Mariah Carey on Empire this Wednesday, October 5, at 9/8c on Fox.
