Atlantic City Fire Chief Dennis Brooks is being investigated for dropping his pants while going through the metal detector in the Public Safety Building last week.

Brooks was placed under administrative leave, after the alleged incident last Thursday morning when he was asked to remove any metal objects by the woman working the building's metal detector.

According to The Press of Atlantic City, the paper obtained a letter the city worker’s lawyer sent to the city solicitor detailing the alleged incident. Sebastian Ionno had his office redact the woman’s name to protect her identity.

She “asked Chief Brooks to remove any metal objects before going through the metal detector,” states the letter, dated Friday. “Chief Brooks then proceeded to undo and drop his pants and advised (redacted name), ‘I am having a bad day.’”

The lawyer wants access to any video surveillance footage of the incident.

Chief Brooks has been involved in a contentious battle with the city's life guards, who are fighting an attempt to put the Beach Patrol under control of the Fire Department.
