Former Cedar Creek High Star Dismissed From Rutgers Football
Cedar Creek High School graduate star football player Ahmir Mitchell's college football career hit another major roadblock this week when he was dismissed from the Rutgers University football program.
Two years after graduating from Cedar Creek as a potential college gridiron star, Mitchell has been let go by his second major college program without ever playing in a real college game, according to NJ.com.
Mitchell, from Mays Landing, who graduated from Cedar Creek as a South Jersey high school all-star, was suspended from the University of Michigan for an undisclosed reason in summer 2016 and transferred to Rutgers, but had to sit out his freshmen year, per NCAA rules.
He still had four years of eligibility remaining as he began spring training for Rutgers this year and was listed as a starter. Then Mitchell tore his ACL a week into camp and never practiced again.
Ahmir Mitchell helped lead the Cedar Creek Pirates to their first South Jersey Group II title in 2015.
After being dismissed from two major college programs, whether Mitchell will ever play a real down of college football remains uncertain at best.
