Additional Information

A 40 mile per hour couch potato is just waiting to be adopted into a loving and permanent home. What better time than National Adopt-a-Greyhound month to welcome a beautiful, graceful and gentle greyhound into your family. April is National Adopt-a-Greyhound month and the need to place thousands of surplus greyhounds from southern racing states to adoptive homes in northern, non-racing states has never been greater. There’s a concentration of beautiful, ex-racing greyhounds in seven southern states (Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida, Iowa, Texas and West Virginia) and a lack of adoptions in those states.  Most adoptions occur in the north and northeast portions of the country.

Thousands of greyhounds are being cared for by adoption groups across the country as they wait to be adopted into permanent homes. Please help ensure that 100 percent of these greyhounds find homes by visiting thegreyhoundproject.org for resources and information on how to adopt a greyhound in your area.
