Egg Harbor Township Police are investigating a two-car accident Monday afternoon on Zion Road that lead to the hospitalization of the eight occupants involved, all juveniles.

On Monday, February 17, 2014 the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle crash which occurred at approximately 1:37 pm on Zion Road at Larch Avenue, in the Scullville section of the township.

The 2010 Acura TSX operated by 17 year old juvenile male from Somers Point, was proceeding West on Zion Road when a Chevy Trailblazer failed to yield at the stop sign at Larch Avenue and pulled into the path of his vehicle. The Chevy Trailblazer operated by a 17 year old juvenile female from Egg Harbor Township was traveling South on Larch Avenue, intending to turn left onto Zion Road, when it failed to yield at the stop sign at Zion Road and pulled into the path of the Acura.

Between the two vehicles there were 8 juveniles who were injured. They were treated at the scene by ambulance squads from Egg Harbor Township, Hamilton Township, Shore Medical Center, AtlantiCare and AtlantiCare Paramedics. Two of the injured were transported to AtlantiCare City Campus with moderate injuries and the remainder were transported to Shore Medical Center.

Traffic was detoured for approximately 1 hour while the crash was being investigated and cleared. The crash is being investigated by Officers Kevin Devlin.
