Teachers in Egg Harbor Township, working without a contract since June 2013, staged a rally outside Alder Avenue Middle School Tuesday to focus attention on the situation.

According to the Press of Atlantic City, an estimated 200 teachers rallied outside the school,  wearing matching Egg Harbor Township Education Foundation t-shirts and holding picket signs advocating a settlement in the contract impasse.

The rally was timed to precede a school board "fact finding" meeting scheduled to be held at the school last night.

What's the hold up? Doesn't it seem, that after almost a full school year of working with no contract for the district's 1800 teachers, the facts should be known by now?

Why has this dispute continued for so long? If you have kids in the Egg Harbor Township school system, you certainly realize what a distraction contract problems like this can be to the learning environment.
