Problems continue in the southbound lanes on the Garden State Parkway due to a major construction accident from earlier this morning. The construction mishap occurred shortly after midnight as workers loaded a giant concrete beam onto a truck. The beam that fell, was to be part of the new Great Egg Harbor Bridge.

Traffic is moving only in one lane in the southbound direction of the bridge. Expect major delays as you approach the Somers Point toll plaza. According to officials, the beam should be removed before the summer shore traffic hits the area this weekend.
