A finicky child almost derailed Nicole Gaffney's attempt to advance to the final four Sunday night on "Food Network Star".

Gaffney, the 29-year-old Brigantine personal chef, won her first challenge on Sunday's show, a live segment describing ice cream for judges Alton Brown, Bobby Flay and Giada De Laurentiis.

Her victory left her in charge of assigning the show's next challenges, where she gave herself the challenge of helping a hard-to-please family change their boring routine for Rachel Ray's TV show.  But Gaffney's spicy shrimp wraps were not a hit with family's children, with one toddler spitting out his food.

Gaffney landed in the bottom three considered for elimination, but outlasted "butcher babe" Loreal Gavin to advance to this Sunday's finals, where viewers will vote on the contestants pilot for a proposed Food Network series.
