You've got to have a lot of respect for someone who has logged an amazing 16,000 hours on-air, a Guinness Book World Record.  What I don't understand and, many are struggling with, is why... "Live with Regis & Kelly" is pushing Regis out after after 28 years on the show.  The ratings seem solid, and at age 80,  he's as popular and as headstrong as ever.

The show's producers aren't talking about the decision, saying only a replacement hasn't been chosen and auditions will be held.

Co-host Kelly Rippa tells Starpulse.com that Regis is "Irreplaceable". "I think he is the world's greatest storyteller," Ripa said of Regis. "That's his gift."

This week is all about Regis though, including Thursday's special appearance  by former co-host Kathie Lee Gifford and Friday's hour-long tribute.

I have a feeling we'll be seeing Regis in another role soon, but it won't be on his longtime  morning chat-fest anymore and that's too bad.
