1st Case of Fungal Meningitis Reported in New Jersey
Some scary news for tonight. CBS Philly reports that State health officials in New Jersey have reported its first case of Fungal Meningitis. A 70 year old man from Camden County is in the hospital with a reported case of meningitis. The man received an injection of a steroid from one of the lots recalled by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts.
The man is being treated with anti-fungal medication at South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Vineland.
New Jersey health officials say 650 patients in the state received shots of the potentially contaminated steroid. So far, this is the only case being reported.
