Your Guide to Open Beaches and Boardwalks in South Jersey
One of the things I miss the most since the start of the COVID-19 lockdown is going for a walk on the beautiful beaches or iconic boardwalks in our area.
Little by little things are starting to open up across the Garden State and yes, that officially includes some beaches! The beaches in Sea Isle City, Ocean City and Strathmere will be open for sunbathers starting this Saturday, according to a Press of Atlantic City report. You still must practice social distancing and gatherings are still not permitted on those beaches.
Here's a town by town beach and boardwalk opening list courtesy of the Press of Atlantic City.
Atlantic City - Beaches and boardwalk are open.
Brigantine - The beach is open but the Cove Beach Recreation Area is closed.
Longport - Exercising, running and jogging are allowed. No sunbathing, gatherings or sports are permitted.
Margate - Exercising, running and jogging are allowed. No sunbathing, gatherings or sports are permitted.
Ventnor - Boardwalk remains closed. You can run, jog, exercise, walk the dog on a leash. No gathering, swimming, sunbathing, surfing, kayaking,paddle boarding, fishing, beach blankets or chairs.
Avalon - You can run, walk fish and surf on the beaches in Avalon. There are no stationary activities allowed at this time.
Cape May - You will be able to walk, run, jog, fish and surf. You must adhere to social distance practices. No groups are allowed. You need to wear a mask when you pass others. The boardwalk is open for active recreation.
Stone Harbor - Walking, running, fishing and surfing are allowed. Stationary activities are not.
Wildwoods - The world-famous boardwalk is open for walking, running and biking. The beach is also open but you must stay six feet apart from others.
