I love the Wildwood City Commission’s proposed ordinance to allow horses on the  Wildwood beaches in the off-season.  Wildwood is borrowing from Brigantine’s horse-friendly policy but making improvements designed to better fit its own mammoth-sized beaches.   My favorite idea is to allow the horses to gallop, so you really know you’re on a horse-back ride!  Most places I’ve ever ridden, including Brigantine, only allow walking the horse.  The law would allow horses from Oct.1st through April 30th, with a maximum of 20 riders at a time each paying  a $100 permit fee.  If the plan is successful, that could mean lots of revenue for Wildwood and attract a new, untapped off season market of equestrians.  That just makes good horse sense!  Sorry.  The Wildwood City Commission holds a public hearing on the proposal on Nov. 9th.
