This Saturday, March 6th, cheerleaders will lace-up and put on a show during Spirit Brands “The Return” Cheerleading Competition.

And, according to a press release shared with Townsquare Media, the March cheerleading competition scheduled in 2020 was the last event to be held at the Wildwood Convention Center before the pandemic brought events to a screeching halt.

As a former cheerleader, I really, really wish this was an event I could attend! But with most COVID-19 safety precautions still in place, even as youth sports resume in South Jersey, only competing teams, judges, and coaches (maximum capacity 150 people) will be allowed inside the Convention Center. No parents or spectators will be permitted, so I'm bummed.

But, I'm so happy for the girls and guys to get to show off their cheering, tumbling, and flying...routines they've likely spent months perfecting in hopes of winning this competition.

The Wildwoods Convention Center has reportedly taken extensive measures to ensure that can enjoy a safe, comfortable experience, including enhanced sanitizing protocols, hand sanitizing stations available throughout the facility, mandated mask requirements, and temperature checks for everyone entering the building.

Wildwood Convention Center will abide by the NJ State Department of Health Guidance for Sports Activities including social distancing.

Before and after all events, a team of cleaning professionals will deep clean all areas with commercial grade disinfecting materials and restock all hand sanitizing stations, according to a press release from Suasion Communications.

Good luck to all the teams competing this weekend! Rah, rah!
