A Facebook friend's post caught my attention this morning.  According to my friend, Christine Parker, the city of Absecon has taken the rims off the the backboards at the only public basketball courts in town, in effect closing down all basketball playing this summer.

A sign on the basketball courts at Absecon's Emma C. Attales School basketball courts says the courts were closed effective June 22, 2018, but gives no explanation why.

One comment on Christine's Facebook post shows a neighbor's complaint to the Absecon School Board about people using the basketball courts "outside of the allowable public hours". Is this what prompted Absecon to close down the courts entirely for the summer or longer?

If you have more information about why Absecon has banned basketball, please leave it for me in the comments section. Let's see if we can get the rims put back on the backboards in Absecon!
