Where Has the Jersey Devil Been Hiding?
It's officially fall, which means all minds are thinking of Halloween. The most Halloween thing about New Jersey is without a doubt is the Jersey Devil. However, it's been a while since an alleged sighting of the winged creature. South Jersey is no stranger to the supernatural...
We have our good 'ol ghost stories, we've had the occasional Bigfoot sighting, we have blue holes, but the superstar of the supernatural is the Jersey Devil. Everyone has heard every variation of the story. The consistent facts however are: he was the 13th child, he was born in South Jersey in the pine barrens, his mom cursed him, and he has goat legs, wings, a horse/goat head, horns, and has a tail.
However, where has our friend been? It's been a while since we've heard of the Leed's 13th child.
[oddly enough, one of the first sightings of the Jersey Devil has a connection to Napoleon Bonaparte. The first spotting was back in 1812 by Napoleon's older brother. 1909 was the year for the Jersey Devil. Schools in the pine barrens were closed because of the fear of the Jersey Devil. There were almost 1,000 eyewitness reports.
Sadly, there hasn't been a sighting in 3 years. So, where is the Jersey Devil hiding? Unfortunately, that's the trouble with mystical creatures they can go in hiding for years and years. What's the point of this article then? Honestly, I hope is spurs people to "see" the Jersey Devil because I miss him.
