Weekend Rescue in Ocean City

The Coast Guard became involved in a rescue operation this past weekend off the coast of Ocean City.

According to Coast Guard officials, two people and a dog were rescued from a burning sailboat two miles off the coast of Ocean City. A Coast Guard Rescue Boat was on the scene within 15 minutes after receiving the emergency call.

The individuals and their dog had life jackets on and were in an emergency dingy when the Coast Guard arrived on the scene. No injuries were reported, but the sailboat eventually sank. The fire is under investigation.
