With cases of COVID-19 once again on the rise in the Garden State, Walmart is putting certain pandemic safety measures back in place, just ahead of Black Friday.

Back in September, Walmart became less restrictive with shoppers, who seemed to be adhering to mask wearing and social distancing. But as of Tuesday, there were more than 4,000 new COVID-19 positive cases in New Jersey as a third wave of coronavirus presents itself, according to Governor Phil Murphy. So, starting on Black Friday, November 27th, Walmart stores in South Jersey and nationwide will return to their practice of limiting the number of shoppers who can be inside at any given time, according to Yahoo.

While Walmart has reportedly elected to close on Thanksgiving, it will open at 5 a.m. on Black Friday. Be advised that this year, a rush into the store like we're used to won't be the scenario, and you will have to wear a mask. Walmart has introduced 'health ambassadors' who will be at the entrance reminding you to do so, reports Yahoo.

Walmart spokesperson Kory Lundberg tells Yahoo"Out of an abundance of caution, we have resumed counting the number of people entering and leaving our stores."

Earlier this week, Governor Murphy announced the tightening of restrictions when it comes to gatherings. Starting today the number of people allowed indoors shrinks to 10, and on November 23rd 150 people outdoors. The Governor has also recommended scaling back guests for Thanksgiving dinner.
