NJSP Marine Bureau troopers responded to the scene but they were unable to free the two because the tide was going out. As a result, they requested help from the aviation unit, which responded.

Cops say, "...the pilots, Sergeant Jeffrey Dipple and Trooper I James Baranyay, along with University Hospital Flight Nurse Richard Harris, Flight Nurse Ryan Paynter, and Flight Paramedic Tracy Connellan arrived to assist with the rescue. While the pilots maintained a low hover, the flight staff helped the stranded jet-skiers onto the helicopter."

No injures were reported from the incident.
