An accident in Atlantic City Tuesday afternoon sent two vehicles crashing into a landmark restaurant.

Posts on social media show two vehicles, a black car and a silver minivan, had hit the exterior door and the front of Angelo's Fairmount Tavern at North Mississippi and Fairmount Avenues Tuesday afternoon.

By the evening, the Atlantic City Police Department had erected barricades around the damaged part of the building.

According to a Facebook post, the restaurant did not open for dinner service.

Angelo's has been a staple in Atlantic City's Ducktown neighborhood since 1935.

A press release from the Atlantic City Police Department had not been published as of Tuesday evening; the condition of those involved in the accident is not known.
