This falls a little short of the "perfect crime" classification.

A man and woman from North Wildwood were charged this week with theft of benefits for using the man's Social Services benefits card while he was in jail.

Kim Strawhacker, 59, and Kevin Heiler, 37, have been charged with using with Heiler's food stamps benefits card for three months while he was in jail.  Strawhacker has also been charged with third degree theft, according to press release from Cape May County Prosecutor Robert L. Taylor.

Taylor was careful to point out that anyone caught stealing benefits would be facing jail time. Or, in Heiler's case, more jail time. People charged with third degree crimes face three to five years in prison. Fourth degree charges could result in up to 18 months in prison.
