According to the U.S. Geological Survey, tsunami warnings and alerts have been issued in the wake of a 7.9-magnitude earthquake, deep under the sea, near the Philippines.

Initial reports from NBC News say there is no damage or injury reports just yet, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said.

Warnings were issued in the Philippines, Indonesia, Belau, Yap, Taiwan, Japan, Guam, North Marianas and Papua New Guinea.

Watches are also in effect in several other coastal areas in that region, including in Hawaii.
