Atlantic City Police are crediting a tip from a councilman in getting a gun off of the streets of the city.

Authorities say around 1:00 Friday morning, ACPD Officer Bryant Mitchell was stopped by City Councilman Moisse Delgado who gave him information about a man with a gun near South Carolina and Drexel Avenues. Delgato was able to give the officer a detailed description of the armed man.

Within minutes, cops approached the man, identified as 45-year-old Antonio Gibson of Atlantic City. Cops say Gibson was arguing with another man when they arrived. While approaching Gibson, an officer saw the handle of a gun sticking out of his pocket.

Gibson was arrested without incident and the gun was recovered. Gibson was found to be in possession of 11 bags of heroin and marijuana, according to police.

Gibson was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, certain person not to possess a weapon, and two counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
