Normally, we don't get to experience the meteor shower in all its glory since the moon is so bright over the South Jersey region this time of the year. However, this year's a game-changer. The moon isn't as full as it's been in years past, so Jersey residents should be able to catch a pretty amazing sky show.

Apparently, stargazers even have a shot to see about fifty meteors an hour. They'll look like shooting stars! Sounds like a star shower worth catching a glimpse of. The best chance we'll have here in South Jersey to see the meteor shower is this Thursday, August 12th into Friday, August 13th.

Of course, you should plan to watch after midnight, but before the crack of dawn. EarthSky.org says that's the best time to bank on seeing something spectacular happen in the sky. For one, you shouldn't have many lights to prevent you from a good show during those hours. Obviously, you're going to need to go somewhere that allows you a big patch of open sky as your screen. Since we're in South Jersey, one of the best places you could go to see the meteors would be the beach or one of the many strips of farmland we've got all over the region. Even a one or two-night camping trip would do the trick.

You can investigate even further into why this year's meteor shower is said to be one of the best ones ever HERE.
