Have you every wondered what the real story is behind the origin of this popular South Jersey beach destination? Well wonder no more!

According to Stone Harbor NJ.org, the borough better known as Stone Harbor, was established way back in 1914. It was formed from portions of Middle Township and marketed to well to do homeowners in Philadelphia searching for a beach destination for a summer home.

According to Wikipedia.com, Stone Harbor was named after a English Sea Captain named Stone who took shelter in town during a storm.

There is so much to do in Stone Harbor including shopping at more than 100 specialty shops, and spending time at the Stone Harbor Museum or Wetlands Institute. My family would always visit Stone Harbor to have dinner and shop after spending the day at the Cape May Zoo.
