It is no surprise that the number one new year’s resolution is to lose weight and eat better. That should include taking time to eat a healthier breakfast. But, sometimes breakfast can be the last thing on our mind in the morning before heading out the door.

Let’s put it this way, you would not drive your car without gas in the tank. After you we have been asleep without anything in our system, our body needs the nutrients and energy of a good breakfast to get going. Many studies have linked eating breakfast to good health, including better memory and concentration, lower levels of “bad” LDL cholesterol, and lower chances of getting diabetes, heart disease, and being overweight. Without food in the morning, our body’s metabolism slows and we can end up famished at later in the day, leading to overeating.

Whoever's idea it was to put massive amounts of sugar in cereal has started a dangerous trend that you should strive to not be a part of. Instead, look for cheerios or most Special K brand's as healthy alternatives - and always with skim milk.
